Welcome!

Hi everyone! I've wanted to start a blog for some time now but there are so many great ones I've seen by friends that I've been a little scared because honestly, I didn't really know where to start. However, I'm tired of making excuses so I'm giving this a shot! It may not be pretty but it's the information that matters most :)

I'll start with what's going on now in the life of The McCorkles - we're building a new house so as the title says, Construction is in Progress...we have been renting since June of 2011 when we first moved to Birmingham from Atlanta for Nathan's job and after at least a 6 month house hunt we decided to build in an area of Birmingham called Mt. Laurel. We actually aren't building in the development of Mt. Laurel but in a signature homes neighborhood called Regent Park at the Village (it's right across the street). Mt. Laurel is such a cute area...shopping, restaurants, businesses and just a quant little area off the beaten path of Birmingham's busy Hwy. 280.

So back to the house...they poured foundation about 2 1/2 weeks ago and as of Saturday we have major framing going on. All exterior walls, interior, 2nd floor and roof! I hope to get out there Friday before we head out of town to check things out again. We've had some rain so I'm not sure how much they've been able to get done this week. Hopefully we still get to have our frame review next week! We've gone through all of our decorator appointments so this is the last meeting we'll have until pre-move in orientation. That will happen about a week prior to close. So keep your fingers crossed that we stay on schedule. I hope to post some pictures soon too!
